All 100 counties work in partnership with the NCDMV and N.C. Department of Revenue to utilize a statewide valuation system when assessing annual tagged motor vehicles. The vehicle's annual assessment will be provided on the annual bill, or Invitation to Renew.
Vehicle owners have up to sixty (60) days to appeal their annual valuation with the Wilson County Tax administration. The appeal process begins thirty (30) days prior to the current expiration of registration for the vehicle and end thirty (30) days after the expiration date.
To appeal the annual motor vehicle's value, please submit a written statement to appeal to our office via postal mail, in person, or via EMAIL. Our office asks for all owners to submit additional document supporting their reason for appeal. Once received, our office will review all information submitted and reach out directly with you to discuss the valuation process. In some cases, our office may require a physical review of the vehicle under appeal. If needed, we will reach out to schedule an appointment with you.
