Educational Opportunities: 
In July, our office will be hosting an educational session open to the public. We invite you to join us to learn more about the Tax Billing, Collection, and Payment process. During this session, you will have an opportunity to learn more about how our office handles the annual property tax billing cycle and learn where your tax dollars go after your payment is made. Please join on this evening and learn more from our tax office professionals.  

Annual Billing and Mailing Information:
Annual Property Tax Bill Update: Our office will be sending out the annual property tax bills during the first part of August. A hard copy of your bill will be mailed out to via USPS. After the bills have been generated, you can review your your billing information online on our website. 

Solid Waste Permits: The Tax administration and Solid Waste Department will be working together to get your information out in a timely and efficient manner. Starting in 2026, all non-municipal, county residence who own a residential dwelling, will begin receiving their Solid Waste Permit with their annual property tax bill. This will begin a new process that residence will see annually. For more details, please reach out to our office or the Solid Waste Division.   

USPS Mailing and Postmark Updates: Due to recent process and procedure changes with the United States Postal Service, mail dropped off in a local postal office box or at the local office may not receive a postmark the same day. For payments, listing forms, and other tax related documents, please be aware of these changes, and either request a postmark to be added at the local office, or submit your mail several days prior to the due date in order for the postmark to be added timely. 

Our office will process all mailings received based on the USPS postmark per North Carolina general statutes.

Wilson County and the City of Wilson

Wilson County is located approximately 35 minutes east of the state's capital of Raleigh, North Carolina. The County of Wilson has a population of 79,000 plus residents and growing. Its total area covers some 373 square miles.

County Seat

The County seat is the City of Wilson with over 50,000 residents and growing. It covers an area of 14.2 square miles. Wilson County has an automatic Real Estate Listing System with approximately 43,000 parcels.

Wilson County Tax Department is also the collection agency for 9 municipalities located within the County, two Solid Waste taxes, 2 Special Districts and 15 Fire Districts.
