Solid Waste Services provides solid waste collection and disposal services for the unincorporated areas of the County and disposes of or processes the municipal solid waste generated in Wilson County.

These services are provided in an economical manner, while protecting the public health and environment. Compliance with accepted Solid Waste Management Operating Procedures, Operating Permit Conditions, and State and Federal laws and rules help to assure the operation of environmentally responsible, convenient, and economical facilities.

Department staff also responds to complaints concerning illegal dumping and littering. The Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling (OWRR) primarily conducts educational and community assistance activities related to proper Solid Waste Management and Recycling.
