All of North Carolina's 100 counties have a County Board of Elections with 5 members who are registered voters in that county. The State Chairs of the Republican and Democratic Parties each recommend three (3) voters to the State Board. The State Board then chooses 2 members from each party to serve on the County Board. The State Auditor appoints the chair of each County Board. Board members serve two-year terms.
