WILSON COUNTY, NC – Allison Matthews, 4-H Youth Development Agent with Wilson County’s N.C. Cooperative Extension, was recognized for an achievement during the 2026 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference held in Asheville, NC on August 19, 2026.

Allison received the TC Blalock Young Agent Award for 1-3 Years. As a Wilson County 4-H Agent, she expanded hands-on programs that build life skills while growing participation. School partnerships, new clubs and environmental programs reached hundreds of youth. Livestock and presentation opportunities strengthened confidence and leadership, while innovative programming and community partnerships provided meaningful experiences that prepared Wilson County youth for success.

“I am extremely proud of Allison and this well-deserved recognition of her efforts as a 4-H agent in Wilson County,” noted Norman Harrell, County Extension Director. “She works tirelessly to serve our youth and is dedicated to making Wilson County a better place for everyone.”

The purpose of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals is to promote the profession of Extension 4-H and youth work in North Carolina. The 4-H program is the youth education program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, based at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State Universities. More than 260,000 young people ages 5 through 18 participate in North Carolina 4-H activities each year with the help of 16,700 adult and youth volunteers.
