At the monthly County Commissioners’ meeting held on January 12, Wilson County officials received a clean 2025 audit report indicating its strong fiscal health. Paula Hodges, Partner at Martin Starnes & Associates, presented the report to County Commissioners and those in attendance. Martin Starnes & Associates gave the County an unmodified opinion for its annual audit, which is the highest rating possible. In addition, there were no audit findings and the County had no general performance indicators.
“I applaud our Finance team, department leaders and staff for a successful and clean audit. Our Commissioners value sound financial management and practices. This audit confirms that commitment,” noted County Manager, Ron Hunt.
The audit has been submitted to the Local Government Commission to sign off on. Each year, accountants go through the County’s finances ensuring that federal and state grants are appropriately applied. They also examine the County’s total revenue, expenditures and fund balance.
