Wilson County Planning Board Approves UDO Rewrite

The Wilson County Planning Board met January 20 and conducted a public hearing regarding the County’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) rewrite.  After public comment, the UDO was approved to advance to the Wilson County Board of Commissioners at the March 2, 2026 meeting.  For questions or comments, please call 252-399-2965, option 2.

The Unified Development Ordinance is a set of rules that govern how land may be used and developed in the unincorporated areas of Wilson County. This Ordinance consolidates the County’s land use regulatory authority as authorized by the North Carolina General Statutes, and is adopted pursuant to the authority granted to Wilson County by Chapter 160D Article 2 of the North Carolina General Statutes and any special legislation enacted for the County by the North Carolina General Assembly.
