Ribbon Cutting Held for Recently Renovated Wilson County Government Center

Post Date:07/11/2025 10:43 AM

On Thursday, July 10, Wilson County officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for our recently renovated Wilson County Government Center at 2201 Miller Road S. In an effort to enhance the customer experience, the Water Services Department and Development Services Department were moved to the first floor of the building to allow all citizen services to be easily accessible. Parking lots were also expanded and updated, which nearly tripled the parking spaces, along with enhanced safety and reserved spaces for veterans. The aging roof and HVAC system were replaced as well. Fresh paint, new carpet, LED lighting and new interior and exterior signage were also part of the enhancements to the building. The building was constructed in 1966 for Standard Commercial Tobacco Company's worldwide headquarters. Wilson County Government moved its offices into the building in December 2006 and there have never been any major enhancements until now. The $2.6 million capital improvement project was budgeted over two county budget cycles.
